From the Park’s Celebration Plaza greenspace stroll west across the Historic Old Washington Street Pedestrian Bridge to arrive at Bison Plaza – just before Indianapolis Zoo’s large iron gate backside entrance.

Nestled amid seasonal foliage with a magnificent metal bison art statue, this garden and hard scape plaza creates a unique environment for your next luncheon, reception, or more for up to 50 guests.

Celebration Plaza

This is your wide vista of greenspace including open areas of walkways, lawns, and art sculptures (Ex. Totem).  Flanked on the west by Celebration Plaza Amphitheater and on the north by the NCAA® Hall of Champions Museum, this destination hosts outdoor festivals and engages Park visitors to the White River.  Landscaped trees, flowers, and shrubs add depth to the Plaza, Historic Central Canal, and White River together.

This greenspace offers perfect photo-op views of downtown Indianapolis to the east, White River to the west, Historic Central Canal to the north, and The Governors Lawn to the south.  It’s an ideal destination for festivals and receptions accommodating over 10,000 guests within the 40,000 square foot greenspace.  As one of the most frequently visited areas of the Park, host your next event with or without the adjoining Amphitheater.

Celebration Amp

Celebration Plaza Amphitheater

Located at the west end of Celebration Plaza greenspace, this destination is available to use with Celebration Plaza or by itself.  This area is ideal for special event kick-offs, speaker series, presentations, demonstrations, weddings, reunions, fitness training, and even concerts for over 1,500 people.  A unique experience with its own private waterfall, this greenspace offers a gorgeous view of the White River and wildlife.

The Governor’s Lawn

The Governor’s Lawn (seasonally The Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park) opened in August 2003 and now accommodates over 8,000 people for concerts.

This destination is complete with a waterfront bandstand, hosts world-class concerts, festivals, and other community events.  When the greenspace is not in use for events, you may see visitors flying kites, catching balls, picnicking, or just relaxing.

Historic Central Canal & White River State Park Cultural District | Canal Walk

Jog, roller blade, Segway Tour, or walk along this 1.5-mile (3-mile round trip) canal that runs from the White River through the Park, then heads East and then North to 11th Street and Historic Buggs Temple.  For seasonal fun on the water, enjoy a gondola ride with Old World Gondoliers or rent a kayak or pedal boat at our Wheel Fun Rentals!

This location is available day and night for community celebrations and private events.  With spacious walkways and grass-lined areas, this is an exceptional area for your next charity run/walk, community gathering, and special event.

Historic Military Park

Once a Civil War encampment and training field, Historic Military Park was also the site of the first Indiana State Fair.

This 14-acre greenspace is in the shape of a military badge located between the Park’s Historic Central Canal (Walkway) and IUPUI.

It’s the site of  Indianapolis’ largest charity-sponsored runs and walks, concerts, festivals, special events, picnics, numerous reunions, and other community events.

Historic Old Washington Street Pedestrian Bridge

This unique destination connecting White River State Park’s East and West attractions offers North and South views of the White River with modern sculptures by regional and international artists selected for the Park’s outdoor Sculptures in the Park exhibitions.

Used frequently as the perfect place to walk or enjoy the views of downtown Indianapolis or the flourishing wildlife along the White River, this location is available for private events both day and night.  With spacious walkways and grassy areas for table seating, this is an exceptional area for your next special event.

Historic Pumphouse

The Historic Pumphouse is currently home to the Park’s administrative offices.  This restored 1870 Indianapolis Water Company pumping station provided the first public water service for Indianapolis and is included on the National Register of Historic Places.

To the west of the building and overlooking the White River, is a pavilion containing a memorial to Michael A. Carroll, Frank McKinney, Jr., Robert Welch, and John Weliever.  Make this Historic location your next your special event destination.

Historic Pumphouse Amphitheater

This unique destination located on the Historic Pumphouse’s South side next to the The Governor’s Lawn includes tiered greenspace with Indiana limestone.

It is the perfect area for special event kick-offs, presentations, speaker series, movies, fitness training, and weddings.  With the Historic Pumphouse as your backdrop, this location accommodates events for over 300 guests.

Indiana State Museum (ISM) Lawn

The Indiana State Museum (ISM) Lawn at White River State Park is an inviting destination for your guests with ample walkways and lush greenspaces for table settings and special event dining experiences.

Located directly in front of the Indiana State Museum at White River State Park, this high visibility destination is viewable from the Marriott Hotel Complex (with over 2,200 rooms) just across West Washington Street, the recently completed Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick Cultural (Download Map), and major pedestrian pathways and trails and vehicular roads connecting with the Park.

Parking is directly beneath the greeenspace, as this destination serves as a “green roof” for White River State Park’s Underground Parking Garage.  When the greenspace is not in use for events, you may see visitors flying kites, catching balls, picnicking, or just relaxing.
